IHG normally sells points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each. And you can buy points for as little as 0.6 cents each with the IHG Points & Cash trick.
But with this promotion, you’ll pay even less for your IHG points!
For example, 60,000 IHG points cost $690. And with a 100% bonus, you’ll get an another 60,000 bonus IHG points with your purchase, for a total of 120,000 IHG points.
So the cost of the points is ~0.58 cents each ($690 / 120,000 points), slightly less than what you’ll pay using the Points & Cash trick.
Is It Worth It?
This is a great deal if you need a few more IHG points for a particular stay. Or if you want to get Big Travel for Small Money at 1 of IHG’s luxury hotels, like Emily and I did in Bora Bora.
I found rooms in March 2017 at the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort for ~$807 or 60,000 IHG points per night.
With this deal, you could buy 120,000 IHG points for $690, enough for a 2-night stay. That’s a savings of ~$924 ($1,614 – $690)! Because 2 nights would cost ~$1,614 with cash ($807 X 2).
Or use fewer points and save even more with IHG PointBreaks hotels, where you can get rooms for ~$30 (or less with this deal!) per night.
Earn More Points With the Chase IHG Card

With the Chase IHG Rewards Club Card, you can earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
And another 5,000 IHG points after adding an authorized user and making a purchase within the first 3 months of account opening.
This isn’t the highest sign-up bonus offered for the card, but you might consider applying because the most valuable perk is the free night at ANY IHG hotel you’ll get each year on your card anniversary.
The $49 annual fee (waived the first year) is a bargain for a free night at any IHG hotel, which could be worth hundreds of dollars. That’s why I keep it in my wallet!
