Via Miles to Memories, Chase has activated the online application for the Chase Freedom Unlimited ahead of schedule. The card is interesting because it offers 1.5% cash back or 1.5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 on all purchases.
It does NOT have rotating 5X categories like the regular Freedom card.
But like the Freedom, it has no annual fee and the same sign-up bonus of 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($150) after you spend $500 within the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
Earn 1.5X Chase Ultimate Rewards Points on Purchases, Then Move the Points to Your Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold Card. From There You Can Transfer to Partners Like United Airlines to Fly on Star Alliance Airlines Such as This Lufthansa Business Class Flight Emily Took Home From Paris
Until now, the Freedom Unlimited was only available in Chase branches.

In short, many of y’all may do better asking Chase to switch 1 of your current Chase cards that you’re not using much to the Freedom Unlimited. You will NOT be eligible for the sign-up bonus, but it won’t count as opening a new card.
Because Chase has tightened their application rules. If you’ve opened ~5 or more cards from any bank in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for new Chase cards.
Note: You can have both the Freedom and Freedom Unlimited cards, because they’re different card products.
My favorite aspect of the Freedom Unlimited is that you can send the Chase Ultimate Rewards points to your Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold, and then to Chase’s travel partners.
