Soon you may have more options for visiting India! Via View From the Wing, newspapers in India report American Airlines may relaunch non-stop flights between the US and India.
American Airlines stopped flying to India in 2012. But, there are signs flights may start again!
I’ll share what we know so far!
What’s Happening?
The Times of India published a story that says American Airlines hired a sales agent in India to handle new non-stop flights between the US to India.
Through 2012, American Airlines had a daily non-stop flight from Chicago to Delhi.
There are no details yet on the new route, but it might be from Los Angeles. Recently, American Airlines added new flights across the Pacific Ocean from Los Angeles to New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Sydney. So another new flight from there could make sense.
Current Ways to Use Miles to Fly to India
Until American Airlines announces the specifics, you still have plenty of ways to book award flights to India.
Air India or United Airlines have non-stop flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Chicago, New York (JFK), Newark, and San Francisco. Here’s how to book an award flight if you have AMEX Membership Rewards points or Chase Ultimate Rewards points!
India is one of my favorite places to visit. And I’ll let you know when I have more information about this new route!
