Great news! The Chase Freedom card is extending the current 5X bonus at wholesale clubs, like Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s, through the end of 2016!
That means you can earn up to 22,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points total ($225 cash back) for spending $1,500 each quarter through 2016 for items you were going to buy anyway!

Earn 5X Bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards Points (5% Cash Back) at Warehouse Clubs Like Costco Through the End of 2016 With the Freedom Card!
Here’s more about the extended bonus and how to get the most from the deal!
Chase Freedom Adds Wholesale Clubs to 3rd & 4th Quarter 5X Bonus Categories

Link: Activate the Chase Freedom Bonus Categories
The folks at Chase let us know that wholesale clubs will be included in Chase Freedom’s 3rd and 4th quarter 5X bonus categories this year.
So you can earn 5 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) per $1 on up to $1,500 in spending at Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s, each quarter…for the rest of 2016!
Just don’t forget, TODAY, June 14, 2016, is the last day to activate the 2nd quarter bonus at warehouse clubs and grocery stores.
And you MUST activate the bonus each quarter to qualify for the 5X Ultimate Rewards points bonus.
Remember, Costco will begin accepting Visa cards (like the Chase Freedom) on June 20, 2016.
So, if you spend the maximum of $1,500 each quarter at wholesale clubs through the rest of the year, you’ll earn 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points or $75 cash back each quarter. That’s a total of 22,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($225 cash back) in 2016 (5X points X $1,500 x 3 quarters)!
What Does NOT Earn 5X at Wholesale Clubs
The Chase Freedom site specifically outlines the 5X bonus. It does NOT include gas, fuel, or wholesale club service purchases like travel, insurance, cell phones, and home improvement.
Drat! But I’ll likely do fine buying groceries and cat essentials for Joelle.
The Chase Freedom Card
With the Chase Freedom card, you can earn 15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($150 cash back) as a sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements.
And you’ll also get another 2,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points ($25 cash back) when you add an authorized user who makes a purchase in the same timeframe.
You can read my review of the card here.
Just remember, Chase now has stricter application rules. So if you’ve opened ~5 or more credit cards (from any bank) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for any Chase Ultimate Rewards points-earning card. But remember, AMEX small business cards don’t show up on your personal credit report!
How to Use Freedom’s Sign-Up Bonus
You can read my post on how to get $225 worth of flights with the Chase Freedom sign-up bonus.
And how to use it for Big Travel on Southwest, United Airlines, American Airlines, and at Hyatt hotels. But remember, you can only transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline and hotel partners if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold (no longer available).
Don’t forget, tomorrow, June 15, 2016, you’ll be able to activate Chase Freedom’s 3rd quarter bonus categories, which will include wholesale clubs & restaurants. And don’t worry, you won’t invalidate this quarter’s bonus by activating another.
